Good Bye.....

For those of you who aren't on Plurk I wanted to let you know that Mk's mom Shirley passed away Jan 25th after a long hard fight with Lung Cancer. She held on long enough for everyone to be able to tell her goodbye. Shirley was a second Mother to me after my mom passed away.

She welcomed me into her family almost 9 years ago & has never once made me feel like an outsider. She treated me as if I were her Daughter In Law even though Mk & I aren't married. I loved her more then she will ever know losing her leave a hole in my heart right next to the hole from the loss of my Mother. I miss her but I am happy that she is no longer in pain.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal~Unknown

So Close I Can Taste It....

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel on the Stripe Study Shawl. I am on the edging. You have to knit 4 inches for the edging seriously this 4 inches seems to be dragging on forever. Every time I measure it doesn't seem to grow at all. Damn garter looks can be deceiving looks big but it isn't. Garter is a liar lol.

All my other projects are screaming for attention I have no touched them all week. This shawl has been my main focus & it will be until its done. I want to have it bound off & blocked so I can get it in the mail Fri & on the way to Mk's mom (its a surprise).

I also have to cast on & knit a monster before the end of next month so I need to get a move on. The other day I decided to frog one of my UFO's which was the Hemlock Ring Blanket. I will cast it on again at some point but I just wasn't ooo ooo I have to knit on this kinda crazy so I frogged it. The other UFO is the Queen Anne by Mario & there is no way in hell I am ripping it out. I used smaller needles so it won't be shawl sized. I will find something to do with it I am sure.

Earlier this evening I finished reading Hunger Games. I enjoyed the books alot. I will probably start Catching Fire tonight or tomorrow all depends on when I put my needles down. Alot of people said the second book was their favorite. I will have to let you know once I am done with the Trilogy.

A Great Pick Me Up & An Update...

On January 14th I got a wonderful package in the mail from a wonderful group of women from our VKN(Virtual Knit Nights). Kimber, Miranda, Amy, Aimee, Susan, Nat, Melissa, Karen. Roz, & Heather. I really appreciate that you all thought of me enough to send me these items.

I am not sure how many readers know this but in 2010 Mk's mother was diagnosed with Lung Cancer she under went surgery & had part of her left lung removed, & she started chemo & radiation. Sadly during her 3 month check up they realized the Cancer had returned.

This time it had spread to her Kidney & the rest of her left lung . She has small cell Cancer which is Terminal, She has been under going more Chemo but her Dr. has decided to stop that for now due to her being to weak & tired she can't take it anymore right now.

Hospice came in to talk to them last weekend they signed up for services like if for some reason she can't make it to the Dr they can arrange for one to come see her & things like that. We are not sure if at some point she will be strong enough to restart Chemo I guess right now its just a game of wait & see.

Getting Closer...

I am 5 markers (I place them every place I need to wrap & turn) away from finishing up the last stripe of the Stripe Study Shawl then comes the edging. The stripe will have 12 stripes I could probably get more then that but I want to get this shawl done and off to the intended recipient who is Mk's mom.

I have not touched the Fall of Leaves shawl since the last time I knit on it my main focus has been the Stripe Study. I have gotten a little bit of work done on the Red Hot Reese's Pieces Socks. I am on the leg portion now. I am knitting these Magic Loop I have never knit a full sock Magic Loop.

I picked out the yarn for the dishcloth but have yet to cast on yet. I have about 2 and half weeks to get it cast on & done. I have a ton of them stared on Ravelry I just need to pick one. I was lucky enough to catch an update from Heather (Boutrosbabe) of The Fiberista Files (wonderful podcast) & Owner of Highland Handmades. I will be sure to share that with you once it arrives. I also got a wonderful package in the mail the other day from some wonderful online friends which I will share with you in the next post.

Can Two Halves Really Make A Whole???

When each half belongs to two different shawls lol. I didn't think so but hey you can't blame a girl for trying.
The two shawls I have on the needles are Fall of Leaves by Stephanie Hogendoom & Stripe Study by Veera Valimiki.

I am loving how the Stripe Study shawl is coming out but omg the Garter stitch is killing my hands. I was thinking about knitting the Hitchhiker after this but after all this Garter stitch it will have to wait. But I am starting 3of my 2012 goals. I am knitting 1 of the 6 shawls, 1 of 3 KAL's & I just cast on 1 of 3 pairs of socks I wanted to knit this year.

I don't have a picture of the sock yet but I do have a picture of the yarn I will post it below with pictures of the 2 shawls. I need to sit down & pick out a dishcloth pattern so I can get that finished up before the end of the month. I am going to try & knit a dishcloth a month I may start out with something easy since I am doing this KAL & I want to really focus on that so I can get it done & shipped out to Mk's mom.

I only have one finished object this week & OMG they are so freaking cute. I swear these booties maybe my ovaries cry lol. From now on these are my go to baby gift. They are fast, easy & so adorable. I think I may crank out another pair for the other Mom to be on my list. These are the Seamless Baby Booties *Bottom Up) by Laura Yarnthrower. She also has a top down pair I want to try.

I ripped out the Quasar shawl I was knitting it looked nice but I just wasn't really feeling it. It was a nice pattern but I think it would have looked better in a different yarn. I have cast on a shawl called Fall of Leaves
So far its a pretty easy knit. But I will still be using lifelines that is for sure. I have my yarn wound & ready for the next KAL which I will talk about in the next post.

WIP Wednesday...

My WIP this week is so freaking cute it made my ovaries scream just a bit lol. I decided instead of knitting baby socks I would make booties. I found a wonderful pattern called Seamless Baby Booties (Bottom Up) by Laura Yarn thrower. If you are looking for a great pattern that a newbie knitter can knit up then this one is for you.

I used Nashua Handknits Superwash. .There is no color name to is to I call it Golden Yellow. I love working with this yarn its soft. I really need to get this yarn again in various other colors. I think I am going to make a hat in the same yarn not sure about the pattern yet. Then I will be half way done with the 2 babies I am knitting for.

I need to order some safety eyes for the monster I want to knit so I need to get on the ball & do that ASAP I haven't worked on the shawl since sometimes late last week. I really need to get back to it. I need to order a size 6 needles for a KAL I am going to join the 1st of January. I could have sworn I had another one around here but it seems to have disappeared into thin air.

Okay time to make my blog rounds for the evening so I can keep up with what is going on out there in the blogging world. Talk to ya on Friday.

Babies Galore

So the baby knitting has began well actually it started about 2 weeks ago but as usual I have been horrible but I am going to try & get back on the horse yet again. First I will talk about the list I posted a last time. The Glissade Shawl has been frogged & the yarn is going to be soaked and re-caked to use again.

I ripped it out because even with my lifeline I screwed up royally its all on me it has nothing to do with the pattern. After I get all this baby knitting done I will be casting it back on & I will get that shawl done. I think I probably use the same yarn as before I love the color changes.

I also tried casting on the Marmalade Shawl with my WM but it seem like it was way to loose while I was knitting it. So I am going to maybe try & again or go down a needle size to see how it looks. I have to keep reminding myself that fingering weight on size 6 needles is going to be a bit wonky in the beginning.

As for what has been cast on since the last post I have 2 baby items done. I have a pair of baby socks on the needles right now & also a shawl. I can show the baby items because the recipients don't know they are getting these items & well I don't think they even read the blog so its ok.

In the finished pile is the Owlie Sleep Sack & the Sockyarn Baby Hat.

As for new things on the needles I have started a pair of Leftover Baby socks & the Quasar Shawl by Chrissy Prange. I just cast the socks on today so I don't have a picture of them yet, but they are in the same yarn as the baby hat.

The Quasar shawl is out a yarn dyed up by a friend of mines on Plurk Nattlee. I am loving the way this shawl is knitting up. Its going to be gorgeous when it is done.

I haven't made much of a dent in the list I posted last week. I really need to get a move on here and start knitting faster. I finished Mk's hat yesterday & it fits him great. I am plugging away on the Glissade Shawl I hope to be done with it by at least next weekend.

I have began one of the many baby items.For the baby girl I am knitting the Owlie Sleep sack. I am about 4 inches away from the decreasing. I may have enough left for a matching hat but I am not sure yet.

I need to look through Raverly & pick out exactly or at least get a better idea of what else I want to make. I know I want to make some baby bibs I have a ton of cotton yarn for that.

As soon as the Glissade is off the needles the Marmalade shawl will most likely go on there unless one of the baby items demands a size 6.

Mk's Hat I decided to just knit plain instead of doing the whole thing in ribbing I need to save the sanity I have left for other things.

I finally took the time to sit down & make my list of things I need or want to knit & somethings I need to finish. Some have a deadline & some don't. I really need to buy more needle sets because I really do not have enough of them to get things done.

Pretty Purple..

Ishbel has been blocked & is now nicely tucked away in the Ziploc bag I have in my drawer for shawls that I don't wear. Yes I admit it I knit shawls but don't wear them.

I have thought about getting a dress form to put them on but really I have no room for that so folded up nicely & stored away someplace safe. I knitted the small version of Ishbel & to be honest I think at some point I am going to knit the large because this shawl is gorgeous.

On the needles right this moment I am doing a KAL that is going on in the Tinyknitters group on Ravelry. We are knitting the Glissade Shawlette by Linda Browning. I am using a ball of Kauni Wool 8/2 Effektgarn

I decided there is no way I am going to get an ornament done for everyone this year so I think I will start them early next year so I have then all done by Dec 2012. I know that if I only get a certain number done & some people get left out due to lack of time there is going to be all kinda of drama around it so I am not even going to put myself through that right now.

I need to make a list of items I need to knit & when I need them done by that would probably help me out immensely . I also need to make a list of things I want to learn next year. I want to make a list of yarns I want to try so I can start trying them out.

One Off & Another On..

I finally got around to blocking my Age of Brass & Steam shawl. I have to say I love how it came out. Granted the after awhile the plain knitting increase knitting then purling back got a bit tiresome. The end result measure 60 x 18.75. This is the biggest shawl I have ever blocked out.

I casted on Ishbel & it is coming along fine. I love the way the yarn is working up & the way it feels. It so soft on my hands I may have to buy some of this sometime. For once I actually know where this shawl is going once its done but I can't tell that info quite yet.

I am alot further along then it shows in the picture I just started Chart B today. I am going to be making the small size as I only have 430 yards of yarn.

I need to get back to the other 2 projects I have sitting on the needles I need to get them done. There is no set recipient for them I just kinda want my needles back lol. I really need to get more needles but seriously do I really need to cast on more projects lol the answer is yes I do lol. I think I will go browse Ravelry I think to see what I can find.

Shawls Away...

So much for being consistent about blogging again huh for some odd reason there are days I think ok I am going to sit down today & blog because I actually have things to say or show but I never get around to doing it. So here is to trying to get back on the blogging bandwagon.

Saturday night I bound off The Age of Brass & Steam Shawl by Orange Flower. I enjoyed knitting it & may again at some point. I still need to block it out to get the final measurements. Once I get it done I will be sure to take a picture of it & post it here.

Before I went to bed Saturday night I cast on Ishbel (yes again lol). I am going to see if I can get all the way thought it this time without messing her up this time around. I am using a lovely skein of yarn from Little Red Bicycle. This yarn was a gift from a good friend of mines Susan aka AuntSuze on Plurk. The color is Ethereal-Violet. I am still on the stockinette portion at the moment but getting close to starting the lace. This time around I am going to be a lifeline Queen you can be sure of that.

For some crazy reason I joined a KAL for a shawl called Glissade Shawlette by Linda Browning. As soon as the yarn arrives I will be casting that on. I haven't even begun knitting my Christmas ornaments yet. I decided I am going to knit everyone a ball just a different color for everyone in all I have 20 of them to make 22 if I make one for Mk & I.

I need to get around to picking out patterns for the babies that are due early in 2012 & I need to get cracking on some Monsters so on that note I am going to say goodbye & take my insomniac self to bed & try to get some sleep

Insomniacs Recap...

The reason I am calling this post insomniacs recap is because as I am writing this it is a little after 6 A,M. PST & I am wide freaking awake. I have not been to bed since I got up yesterday morning. I suffer from insomnia way more then I would like to.

Man time has flown since the last time I posted I really need to get back to trying to post more regularly. I have been doing some knitting since the last time I posted. I finished the hat for Mk's mom. I made the Ribbons of Hope Hat by Kim Fluck. I used Nashua Handknits Creative Focus in Yellow. I have about 6 or 7 more balls of this yarn I got them from someone who just wanted to get rid of them. I think I might make her a pair of fingerless mitts or some mittens(not sure I am ready to try & tackle gloves yet) to match the hat. I had Mk put the hat on so I could take a pic for Rav.

He has been saying he wants another hat to wear this Winter I may just make him this one in another color. I think he has said no to just about every color in my stash & it's not a big stash by any means but I told him fine he can go out & find the color he wants as long as its' not black.

I have a new project on the needles to add to the other ones. I am doing a KAL with my buddy Kimber from Plurk. We are doing The Age of Brass & Steam Kerchief by Orange Flower. I am using my ball of Zauberball I have that I as using for the Esquiline Shawl. I love the pattern I just didn't like how the yarn was working for it. I think with the way the sts were knitted I maybe needed a more pointier needle.

I still have Queen Anne & Hemlock Ring on the needles plus the Hexapuffs which I need to get back to I have been working on Age of Brass & Steam alot so they have been neglected. Although I have gotten a few rounds done on the other 2 projects.

I am going to try & keep the blog more up to date from now on it helps me be accountable to myself,

Long Time Gone....

Wow I didn't think I would have been gone for almost coming up on a month that was never my intention at all. It seems life got a bit overwhelming & I just stopped blogging. If anyone is still out there thanks for sticking around. Not alot has changed since the last time I talked well life in general not much has changed but in knitting somethings have.

First & foremost I want to thank you all for the thoughts & prayers you have given for Mk's mom it is truly appreciated . For the time being she is doing chemo. She has her third session coming up & after that they will do another scan & see where they stand.

The fact that she has small cell cancer makes it hard because you are never truly Cancer free. The cells are known to hide so its hard to detect them. So all we can do it sit & wait which is seriously nerve wracking to say the least. she had to have a blood transfusion last week. Plz continue to keep her in your thoughts & prayers.

On the knitting front I finished a shawl for her to keep her warm she gets cold . I am still working working on The Hemlock Ring & The Fiery Queen . I also started a new hat for Mk's mom & I jumped on the Hexapuff bandwagon lol. Only I decided to make cushions instead of a blanket. I am going to make the first one for myself so I can figure everything out so the next ones go more smoothly,

I am going to end here for now so I can get back to the hat I was hoping to have it done before they went back home today but sadly I didn't so I want to get it done & sent out. I will leave you with a picture of the shawl I made. The pattern is 10 in 2010 Shawlette by Janine Le Cras. I left off the lace portion to keep the flow of air through. She also likes it has a bandana head covering because she is losing her hair I didn't get a change to get a picture of it off the blocking board.

No Clue Where To Start...

Its been awhile since my last post & to be honest not alot of knitting has been going on either but that is going to change here soon well that is the plan anyways. About 2 maybe 3weeks ago we got a phone call that pretty much left us speechless for awhile.

I am not sure if I blogged about this or nit but last year Mk's mom found out she had Cancer in her left lung & part of it was removed. Soon after she started chemo & radiation. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago & she went in for her 3 month check up before they were due to leave for vacation when the Dr told her the Cancer was back in her lung but this time it also spread to one of her kidneys.

So needless to say life at the moment pretty much stopped on its axis for us. Right now she is undergoing a higher dosage of Chemo. They made plans to go to the Cancer Treatment Center of America but they don't take Medicaid patients or something like that so that isn't an option for them. (which pisses me off but that is a another story).

But I started a shawl for Mk's mom so the other knitting has kind of been put to the side until I get it done which should be within the next week or so, I also want to design a shawl for her for her bday next year that is what is up next while I knit on the other items.

I will write more later but in closing I ask you all if you pray please say a prayer for his mother she is like a second mother to me after I lost mines. If you don't pray just think good thoughts & send some good vibes I greatly appreciate it alot as does Mk.

Project Update.

I am still working on the Hemlock Ring & Queen Anne's Lace. I am going to have to frog the Esquiline shawl I was looking at it today & in a pain pills haze I ended up butchering that poor thing. I have a knitted section & yarn over's down one whole side. At least I was consistent I guess lol.

But I am not really mad that I have to frog because I want to use bigger needles to make it bigger & I have another yarn I think it will look better in only one way to find out right. I will probably cast that on sometime this week I need to go looking for the yarn first.

The Hemlock Ring is better bigger I am about close to having a full cable. I think before it gets to be too much I will use my connectors from Knit Picks & add on another cable for more breathing room & space. Right now I am magic looping it.

Queen Anne isn't growing to fast considering she is on size 3 needles & all. I do want to get back to focusing more on her here in the next few days.

There are also 2 new shawls I probably will be casting on this week at least 1 I know for sure. I need to get on the ball & find a pattern for a dishcloth & dish towel .( the cloth is for a fantasy football we do within the family) the winner gets a cloth with the number 1 on it. His sister won last year so she gets the cloth but she also asked for a dish towel which I have no problem doing for her.

I seem to have a bout of startitis I have 3 things on the needles & looking to cast on at least 2 more things.

First up is Equiline by Corina Ferguson.

Project 2 is an item I promised myself I would get back to after I ripped it out the last time & well I finally have. I am using another version of the pattern that I found in a group on yahoo. Winding Fool

I seriously need to get this blogging thing down & get my butt back in the saddle again. I only have one project going at the moment. But I am looking forward to casting on a few more items.

I am working on a project I call Fiery Queen its the Queen Anne's Lace pattern by MMario. It is originally knit on size 8 needles but I am knitting mines on size 3 needles. The yarn is Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine in the colorway Firewood Mix. I have a ton of yardage so I am going to knit until I come to the end of the pattern.

I love the way this is knitting up the blue yarn is my lifeline. Ask me how many times I knit this before I decided a life line was best lol.

Last night I pulled out the ball winder & swift to cake up 5 things on yarn. I don't have any idea what 4 of these yarns will be but knowing me probably shawls.

I did have a lace project on the needles because for one I didn't use a lifeline & also pain meds mixed with claratin isn't a good mixture.

I was lucky enough to get a ball of fingering weight Zauberball in the mail from a nice lady on Raverly for my bday(which was the 4th) you would think I would have blogged that day. I really need to get better about blogging.

But back to the Zauberball I think I am going to do a good search on Raverly to find a pattern that will show off the yarn nicely. I will take a picture of it when I get some batteries in my camera

The title of this post is referring to me knitting the Kicking Bag for Babies. I am knitting it magic loop & honestly I am so tired of knitting on this thing. Its 128 sts on size 2 needles. I only knit the ribbing section on size 2 then I decided to knit the plain portion on size 3's, I wanted to make it a little wider.

I have to knit until the whole thing is 16 1/2 it is usually only 16 but I stopped the ribbing a half in short so I will add the half inch on the bottom. I am 13 1/2 inches into this thing & I am ready for the plain mindless knitting to be done with.

The baby sweater is finally off the needles with the ends woven in & all I need to do now is soak it then attach the buttons. Sadly I don't have any really exciting buttons for this sweater they are just plain buttons. I wanted to find some real cute buttons but I am running out of time the baby doesn't want to wait so I need to get moving.

I may end up knitting her something else after she is born. Tomorrow I will soak it & figure out how I am going to attach the buttons. The needle I have is to big to slide through the holes on the buttons. Let's hope I can MacGyver something.

I am going to cast on something new tomorrow to give my mind something else to work with maybe something with some increases or anything that isn't just plain knitting. I think maybe its time for a new shawl on the needles.

All About The Babies.....

Things are moving along nicely on the baby sweater I have put the sleeves on waste yarn & now I am knitting the rest of the sweater. The baby sweater pattern is the Top Down Raglan Baby Sweater by Carole Barenys. The colorway is Envy Heather.

I decided I am only going to do 3 button holes & maybe some design on the bottom of the sweater. I am really enjoying how this yarn (Knit Picks Simply Cotton Organic Sport) is knitting up. I still need to pick out buttons but I will do that once I finish the sweater.

I also started something else for the baby in question & no I am not pregnant but I also won't say who these items are for even though I am 90% sure she does't read the blog. Sunday afternoon I casted (is that even a word) on the Kicking Bag for Babies by Annika. The yarn is ShiBui Knits Sock in the colorway Spectrum

This yarn would have made some awesome socks. I told you I love me some variegated yarns lol. I found a skein of some red yarn that may end up working for the Uhura shawl so I may end up cast that back on sometimes soon. I am also looking into maybe doing the Wendy Knits Pi Shawl.

Rip out One, Cast on One...

It has been a few days since I last posted life has a way of getting in the way of the crafting sometimes sadly.

I will start off with the bad news I have decided to frog my Uhura shawl while I love the pattern I don't think the pattern & the yarn work well enough together to warrant me continuing with it at this time.

I need a more solid color yarn or maybe something tonal so that the pattern can show more. Now can someone tell me why I waited until I was on Chart B of this thing to realize that they weren't working well together.

But once I get my hands on some solid yarn (as I have shared before I am a variegated yarn whore) I need to start rebuilding up the yarn fund to get some yarn for it. I don't have anything in a super-wash wool that is plain or tonal but I do know this shawl is going to be gorgeous.

I do have some lace-weight in a nice color from Highland Handmades but its 1100 yds & I want to use all of that on one project maybe a Pi Shawl (hmm its an idea)

But of course you know if you rip something out you have to cast something on to replace it & that is what I did. Yesterday I cast on the Top Down Raglan Baby Sweater by Carole Barneys. I am using Knit Picks Organic Cotton Sport in the Envy Heather color.

For some reason I have been on a knitting baby items with cotton kick lately & as you can see below it has kept me busy. I used I Love This Cotton in Sage Ombre.

Let me just say this. I love this cotton is some soft cotton at least in my eyes. It sucks that I don't have a Hobby Lobby near me or I would seriously be stocking up on this yarn in other various colors.

I am also knitting a shawl from my Chamelon Colorwork Bambino yarn in Briar Rose. I love the colors in this yarn. I just started the shawl the other day so I am not to far along I added in the lifeline earlier today & now working on Chart 2. The shawl pattern is Uhura by MMaro

This pattern has an option for nupps/ beads or just knitting the stitch. This time around I opted for just knitting the stitch this time around. I think I may just it again with nupps or beads or heck maybe one of each. I have never done either before but it could be interesting. If you have done either let me know how you liked them.

If you didn't guess by the title of this post I frogged both of my Hemlock Ring Blankets. But I will cast them on again at some point that is for sure probably sooner then later. On the first one even though I though I figured it out it was a no go plus the fact that it was Alpaca & its summer that wasn't a good mix

The second one I ripped out for the same reason I used another pattern for the same blanket I found in a group on Yahoo that was doing a KAL & someone rewrote the pattern out better for them to understand. I think there is a mess up with a row or 2 in the pattern & well I have posted in the group & no one has gotten back to me. The pattern isn't lining up & I didn't add a lifeline before hand to rip back to so rippppp it goes.

I was sad about it in the beginning but in all honesty I want to be able to knit it correctly & be happy with the finished product not have to guess & fudge on every row. But as I said before I will cast on the Hemlock again maybe I can find some people to knit it along with me.

I have been busy knitting but don't really have any finished objects to share with you. The last time I blogged I posted pictures of the start of my Hemlock Ring & a Preemie hat well I am glad to say at least one of those items is done & yea sorry it isn't the blanket. It makes me so sad making this knowing that there is a baby out there somewhere who this will fit. But said baby will have a very stylish & warm hat to wear.

Speaking of the blankets

Yes I have 2 of them on the needles I will spare you the long story as to why & just say while making the 1st one I came up short on a row. I ripped out the row & re knit it only for it come out the same way. So instead of ripping out all that work I just cast on another one to see if I was making a mistake somewhere.

Well I wasn't because I ended up with the same problem on the second as I did on the first. I fixed the problem & went on my merry way knitting away on the second one & so far so good. The problem was I was missing 2 sts. Not sure if anyone else has had that problem while knitting it.

I also have another baby hat & some baby socks on the needles but nothing far enough for picture purposes. I am debating casting on a shawl just to have one on the needles lol.

They were picking on me for not having a blog post up yet to I decided to dedicate this one to them.

The last time I posted I told you guys that I finished my Vermillion shawl. I took a quick picture of it while I was pinning it out. I will take another once once it is dried & all pretty. I noticed after I took the picture that I had the damn thing on the board backwards. ( I blame the sinuses)

Next up on the needles is the Hemlock Ring Blanket. I decided to use the Ultra Alpaca Fine

this is a crappy picture but its still only the beginning so bear with me.

The last item is a Preemie hat in some bright colors because come on all babies look good in bright colors.

I came across a pretty shawl pattern on Raverly last night that I am itching to cast on. I don't remember the name & honestly do I really need to cast on anymore stuff. I do need to get some more baby items going for the charity & get back to my squares.

I really enjoyed knitting this pattern alot. I think if I knit it again I will make it bigger. It is an easy pattern with great results.

I started a preemie hat this afternoon once the Shawlette was bound off. I should be done with it by tonight. I really need to get moving on these freaking squares. I need to just sit down & knock out a few in a night. I think I am going to finally decide what yarn I want to use for my Hemlock & wind it up tomorrow.

The 2 yarns are both Berroco yarns one is Ultra Alpaca & Ultra Alpaca Fine.

The answer is my left eye & why you ask well because I have Pink Eye. The fun never stops here at Casa de Rae. What I have is the Viral kind (there is two Viral & Bacterial). The one I have is Viral & I can thank my lovely allergies for the yucky left eye.

I haven't been knitting much on the shawl since the eye went all wacky its hard to see when you have goop oozing out your eye. I decided to cast on a preemie hat because its mindless & I don't need to look at it to see what I am doing its just 10 rows of ribbing & then straight knitting.

Bit of An Update..

This is going to be a short post because I am under the weather & feel like crap my body aches, I been sneezing like someone who has sniffed pepper & I have a freak fever. So without further ado let's get down to business.

I have been working on the Vermillion shawlette lately & nothing else I am 2 rows away from being done with the second repeat. There is only one more repeat of the 16 rows & then I am done. I think I am going to have a good amount of yarn left so I am going to see if I can make it a little bit bigger if not then it will become premee hats. I took the picture last night(when I was actually planning to post) but I am further along then the picture shows.

I haven't really worked on anything else lately I did get one row done on my square for the Barn raising Quilt. I really need to get moving on these squares. I also want to get around to casting on my Hemlock Ring & a couple more other projects.

I am not very far along in the Vermillion shawl due to the fact I am a dork with my counting. Meaning I kept counting & recounting but ended up with the wrong number or so I thought. Yea no I was the right amount of stitches so I ended up ripping out & restarting. But this time around I added a lifeline which I didn't do last time.

I decided since I gave myself a cut off time for knitting I would finally get back to reading which I have been slacking on alot since I took up knitting. Right now I am reading is Made From Scratch: Discovering the Pleasure of a Handmade Life by Jenna Woginrich,

I Need A Cutoff Time...

With my knitting at nighttime. I came to this realization last night as I was ripping out the Monarch Shawl. I ended up ripping it out after I had made a mistake. After I ripped it out then started to reknit it I noticed the yarn looks pretty crappy from being ripped out & reknit so many times.

The reason I say I need a cut off time is I have realized whether I am tired or not I make most of my knitting mistakes at nighttime. I have pretty good light but I still make dumb mistakes I also need to remember to slow down while I am knitting sometimes I get in a rhythm & keep going then boom I find a mistake that had I not been playing Speedy Gonzales I would have never made.

So since I ripped out the Monarch Shawl I needed to replace it with another shawl/shawlette & this time I am working on Vermillion . I am using my yarn from Another Crafty Girl . This will be the new birthday shawl for said friend whose birthday was today & thankfully she doesn't know about said shawl but I want to try to get this done by the weekend so I can block it & get it to her.

If I do say so myself I finished my Summer Mystery Shawlette today & now it is blocking. I only ended up using about 200 & some odd yards of yarn & that was because I used size 4 needles & didn't add on any extra stitches which I think if I knit this again I will add more repeats or use heavier yarn.

This is the first shawl I ever pinned out the points on & I think it came out ok.

I am still working on the Monarch shawl which as I said before it going to be late & her birthday is Sunday & well I am not way near being close to having it done by Sunday. I have also cast on my second square for my barn raising quilt.

I am tossing around the idea of casting on the Hemlock this weekend but I am not sure I really need to get on the ball & get this shawl done.

Half way & Done..

I have been working on the three things on the needles for the past 2 days. I am halfway through the second repeat of the first chart on the Monarch Shawl. I am really loving this pattern a lot I think this shawl will be a go to pattern for me in the future.

Next on the list of worked on items is the WendyKnits Summer Mystery Shawlette KAL. I am also half way through the first repeat of Chart C. I should be done with the other 2 repeats & ready for the last clue by Thursday.

The last thing I worked on & actually finished was my first square for my Barn Raising Quilt.

The square is sort of roundish-squarish lol. I am going to wait until they are all done before I even think of blocking them all out. As I said before I think I did something wrong because my square doesn't look like the ones other have made. My holes don't look like they fan out (if that make any sense) like the ones in the book do. I think its due to not moving the marker but that part confuses me(yes I am a dork). So I am going to make them the way I have been for the time being.

But if you have made a Barn Raising Quilt before & care to explain the whole moving the marker PLEASE do I greatly appreciate it.

Catch Up...

Wow I just realized its been a few days since I last posted. The day I had planned on posting was the day the crud decided to invade my body. On day 1 I had the 103 fever & body aches now I have a low grade fever no body aches but a cough & sore throat.

I have been doing a little bit of knitting here & there. I decided to rip out my WendyKnits mystery shawl I wasn't liking how it was looking in the yarn I was using at the time. I am using Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine . I am on Chart B I just finished row 7 which is exactly where I left off before I frogged it before. So I am back on track.

I have also finished a repeat in the birthday shawl I was knitting for my friend. Sadly she isn't going to get it on her birthday considering it is next week. But hopefully she will have it at least by that weekend.

I am about done with my first square on my Barn Raising Quilt. But oddly enough my square don't look anything like the ones in the book. Maybe it is because I am using worsted weight yarn. I will post a picture of it when I am done.

I must be a glutton for punishment or something because I ripped out the plain stockinette shawl to turn it into another shawl. I just wasn't really feeling the plain knitting of it all. So this morning I found a new shawl & cast on I will post a picture next time I post.

I got a ball of yarn wound into a ball to start the Hemlock Ring Blanket & I was all gung ho to start until I looked & saw that the feather & fan(which I am not the biggest fan of as it is) is charted. I haven't had a ton of experience with charts either so I have 3 choices. I am suck it up & knit from the chart, write out the chart or not knit it. I love the look of the blanket & think it would make a nice gift so not knitting it isn't an option. I will get back to you on my decision later. I am going to check on Ravelry to see if anyone has already written out the charts or anything .

Tomorrow the second chart in the WendyKnits mystery KAL comes out I can't wait I have the first clue done but I need to make sure I add in a lifeline before I start it. I add lifelines because time & time again whenever I don't add them something bad happens & come on ripping back in lace to a lifeline is a lot easier then ripping back a few rows on lace without it well for me it is anyways.

I am just about done with my first square for my barn raising quilt. Since I am using Worsted weight yarn instead of Fingering weight like the pattern calls for I don't think I am going to make them the exact size the pattern calls for. I plan on making one out of a lighter weight yarn at some point maybe after I get better at seaming the squares together.

The Beginning..

I have the start of 2 projects to show. I am about to begin row 8 of the WendyKnits KAL. I am really enjoying this pattern so far & I like the what the colors in the yarn are working up. The yarn isn't that bright you can see it better in the previous post.

The blue yarn is the lifeline I will be using lifelines alot in this shawl I plan on adding one at the end of every chart I complete. Along with this being my first Mystery KAL this is also the first time I have ever knit a shawl bottom up. I may have to do it more often I really enjoy how the rows get shorter each time.

The second object I have it the start of a square for my Barn Raising Quilt. I am using a variety of worsted weight yarns. I am using size 5 needles I like the fabric I am getting on this size needles.

Its A Mystery...

I decided to participate in WendyKnits Summer Mystery Shawlette KAL. This is my first mystery KAL & well Wendy has some gorgeous lace shawl patterns so I can't wait to see how this one comes out. I decided to use Chameleon Colorworks in the colorway of Briar Rose.

I cast on the stitches for the shawl today all 239(which by the way is the most stitches I have ever cast on) I made sure to count about 5 times & even marked them off by 20's with markers to make sure I had all the stitches.

Now on to the horrible news well its not horrible just frustrating as hell. The shawl I have been knitting that I talked about in the previous posts. Well I ripped it out & I am restarting yet again. I have given up on even doing a pattern just going plain stockinette shawl. I am using the Stockinette Shawl Pattern by Elizabeth Swan.

But who knows the shawl for the mystery KAL falls in the time frame for the birthday of the friend I was knitting the other shawl for. It maybe a few days late or I may even just give her the plain one if its done in time. I haven't decided yet.

OMG FINALLY.....

The hat is finally done. I know what your thinking really the hat is so small why did it take you so long to finish it ? Well to be honest my last few projects have been on smaller needles so going back & forth from size 3/4's to size 7's has been killing my hands so yea I kept putting it off. So about a month later is done.

I decided to frog the baby cardigan I think I will restart it again at a later date though. The only thing I have left on my needles at the moment is the Lingonberry Shawl which as I mentioned I had to rip back the other day. I will take a picture of it once I get a bit further into it again.

I picked up some size 5 & 6 dpns to start on my squares for my barn raising quilt. But since the quilt is a long term project I need to find something else to cast on for when I get tired of squares. What is everyone else knitting on?

Let There Be Ripping...

If any of you happen to have heard screaming & cussing around Wa anywhere tonight I am sure it was me. I was on chart C of my shawl and I made a screw up somewhere & yea I tried tinking back & well that didn't go over so well so I ended up ripping back to the lifeline I put in before I started Chart A. The Charts are Lettered A-D yea cry along with me I was on Chart C with only 3 rows before I was to start Chart D.

Now honestly I have no one to blame but myself because I should have placed a lifeline at the end of every chart & I even thought about doing that but alas for some idiotic reason I didn't do that so I had to rip out all that lovely progress & pick up 173 sts. So tomorrow morning I will pick it back up & start all over again. I really need to cast on a side project before I go crazy.

Speaking of another project I do have a few in mind the first one is a Barn Raising Quilt. I have alot of sock yarn but not alot of scraps which is fine I will mix & match some skeins to make it & I am sure I can ask a few friends for their scraps. But this project will be a serious LONG TERM project for me because lets be honest I don't know how long I can crank out little squares before I go bat crazy.

I also have that poor baby hat still on the needles, still about an inch away from the decreases. I really need to get a move on that thing so I can put it in the charity box & get it on its way. Along with some preemie baby hats. I also have a small baby cardigan running around here in a project bag there was no intended recipient so I may just rip it out I am not sure yet.

Last but least I also want to cast on a Rebecca Danger monster not sure which on but I do want to make one. I have a bunch of acrylic yarn to use. I think the first one I make (as long as its not horrible did I mention I don't know how to seam) I will send to my niece. If you have any tips or websites on seaming especially if you have made a monster please let me know.

I am happy to report I am on the lace portion of the shawl which I am still not telling you which on it is yet. I added a lifeline this time also but this time I used some yarn that was a little heavier then the yarn I am using. I did that with the Ishbel but I ended up using crochet cotton and well that was a bad idea thing yarn & thin string = a bitch to pick up sts.

I am already thinking ahead to what I want to knit next. I have a ton of shawls in my Que but considering I don't wear them I may have to find other things to make. I still need to get more cotton yarn from KP or browse the stashes on Ravelry to make a clapotis for my sister which there is no way in hell I will have the yarn or finished shawl by her birthday this year(July 8th).

I need to get back to make baby hats & I want to make an alphabet blanket with dishcloths I think it will be a good project to learn seaming. So what are you all knitting or what do you have on your next up list ?

Dammit...

I am going to keep this pretty short but I just wanted to post & say I ripped out Ishbel. I ended up ripping back to the lifeline & then picked up the sts again. I am not exactly sure what was wrong but on the next row after the lifeline sts it looks like GARBAGE plain & simple. So I decided to just rip it out since honestly I was worried about the amount of yarn I had in the first place.

I have cast on another shawl about 3 times now lol that damn garter tab starter but I finally got it down at least for this project anyways lol. I am not going to tell you all what shawl it is just I end up having to rip it out again(cross your fingers for me that I don't have to). Because honestly I only have a month exactly from today to get this shawl done. blocked & delivered.

I am still working on or shall I say the hat I was working on is still sitting in the container untouched still about an inch away from the decreases. I need to get on the ball & get some things done so I can get some other things on the needles that have been on the back burner way to long.

On the spinning from I have been practicing here & there but not enough I am not going to get any better if I don't stay on top of it. After the yarn/fiber/pattern diet I want to look into getting a spindle with a notch. The one I have now doesn't have one & I want to see what if any is this difference of notch vs no notch.

Knitting Maybe Fail..

I seriously wanted to kick myself once I realized the mistake I made this afternoon. I am knitting the Ishbel in the beginning I had 880 yds of lace weight which would be enough for a Large Ishbel. I then decided in my infinite wisdom to hold the yarn doubled to make it a little easier to knit with because I needed to be done with the shawl by June & seeing as I have never used lace weight before I didn't know how long it would have taken me.

But I digress I am sure you can see where this is going. I was in the middle of doing Chart A for the first time & I look at the yarn thinking man I thought I had more yarn I have 880 yards. Um yea I would have had 880 yards if I would have used them separately which as you know I didn't.

The Ishbel was knit on size 6 needles & the Large requires 600 & some odd yards. I am knitting the Large on a size 4 needles with only 440 yards lol now you see where the knitting maybe fail comes in. So I may have to buy some yarn & honestly I don't have 50.00 to drop to get free shipping but man its like 11.00 for 2 skeins of yarn (including the shipping) & no one has it in their destash on Raverly so wish me luck. I am going to have to knit fast to see what I have this shawl is due the beginning of June.

Something else to cast on lol I only have 2 things on the needles right now & both are pretty much at the boring part. I am still increasing on the Ishbel which seriously seems like it is taking forever to finish a row & I know it isn't. I am also still working on that hat & lets be honest Knit 3 Purl 2 for 6 1/2 inches can get a bit boring after awhile. I am just about to hit the 5in mark.

I thought about casting on another shawl but honestly I need to keep the focus down to one shawl at a time. Maybe I will cast on some dishcloths or something simple. Ishbel & Iffy Yarn Overs....

I decided to knit the Ishbel for my friend Helga(June Birthday recipient) not sure if I stated that in the last post or not. I also decided to hold the lace weight yarn double to knit it faster then just using one stand at a time. I think I am going to make the large shawl I am not sure yet but I am close to having all the sts for the regular.

I am hoping maybe whomever reads this can help me out even though honestly I am not ripping this out but I will know for next time. I have to be doing something wrong with my yarn overs because they don't look the same on both halves of the shawl

the yarn overs on the left half of the shawl look more open then the ones on the right half ? I am not sure if I am making the yo on the purl side wrong or if I am knitting into it wrong on the other side. Any ideas or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Not Knitting But...

Well you know that Ishbel I was knitting on well I ripped it out lol. It honestly is my own fault I didn't think to ask her if she even wears shawl lol. I talked to her today & happen to bring it up & hmm guess what yea she doesn't wear shawls. So not sure what to do maybe I will make her a crap ton of dishcloths with the cotton I was going to use for her shawl(because she is allergic to wool). Dang her & her wool allergy lol thankfully I outgrew it.

So now that knocks one shall off the needles but still have one more to complete before June (yea total brain fart Helga's birthday is June 5th lol) so I need to get on the ball & get it started I really want to have this done before her birthday. I decided Ia m going to hold the lace weight yarn double because I really don't have time to work with lace weight single wise at the moment. So I need to find a wrap or shawl to cast on by the end of the week any idea feel free to share.

Sorry it has taken me so long to put up a post, respond to emails or visit blogs. I have been battling the Flu over the past few days the fever has finally dropped off but tries to peak its head here & there. The only thing I am left with now is the horrid cough that makes you feel like your lungs are shaking I just want this crud gone.

But on to the knitting well the Multnomah shawl has been frogged & is now becoming an Ishbel by Ysolda Teague. I am still on the first section I just cast on this afternoon lol. As for the lace object well yea let me just tell you knitting with a fever & knitting with lace do not go together so back to the drawing board. I think depending on the first Ishbel goes there maybe a second one & its ok because the recipients don't know one another & live in different states one is in Texas & one is in Washington. I still have that same baby hat & sweater on the needles I have been doing a round here or there but the baby sweater has seen no love.

Before I run off to make my blog rounds before I knock back some NyQuil I will give a Baby Logan update as of Sunday Logan is off his IV meds & he is taking them through his milk & on a low flow O2 level & he is lbs 11 oz. I want to thank your for all the kind works about Baby Logan.

Decisions Decisions...

So after the last post I decided to increase the size of the Multnomah shawl. I am about to add on the second of the 4 balls of yarn I have. I am not sure exactly how far up I will go up to but I do want to use up as much of the yarn as possible. I really don't need any more left over yarn hanging around.

Besides working on the shawl I finally got back to the hat I was working on. I should hit the decreases soon. I went through & organized all my yarn stash yesterday & omg let's just say I should be ok with knitting from my stash for awhile (I am on a yarn /fiber diet). I gathered up all the yarn that is close to being used up & its all in a bag together its all acrylic & wool I am going to use them for either hats or if there isn't enough yardage I will use them for scraps in what I am calling my ugly blanket lol.

Just wanted to get a post up tonight & now going to make my rounds to some other blogs.

The baby blanket for Logan is finished I snapped a picture before I got a chance to block it because once its washed & blocked its out the door. The information about the colors & yarn I used are on my project page Logan's Bias.

I have made some good progress on the Multnomah shawl for my sisters birthday. I am 1 row away from starting the feather & fan section. I am thinking about adding on a few more rows before I actually do the F & F but I haven't decided yet. I do know I will be adding a lifeline before that section there is no way I am starting this over again lol. I am using Knit Picks Simply Cotton Sport in the Envy Heather colorway.

I really need to get around to picking the shawl pattern for the other bday shawl I need for July. I also have a baby hat on the needles & a baby cardigan that I haven't touched(I needed the size 3 needles that were in the cardigan for the Multnomah shawl). Sadly I don't think I am going to have time to work on the technique that I wanted to learn for March/ April which was steeking hopefully I can get to it once I am done with these shawls.

I am about 70 sts from being done with this blanket I need to get it done ASAP.

My friend was put on bed rest by her Dr on March 31st. Monday April 4th she went into labor & at

10:25 AM baby Logan( changed from Lorenzo) was born 29 weeks premature weighing 2lbs 6.9oz.

So I am in a mad dash rush to get this blanket done & sent out to her so this is going to be a short post .

2 Out of 3 Ain't Bad

Yes I am aware that is the title of song by Meatloaf. I like the song & the food as a matter of fact but that is another story lol. In this instance it has to do with my knitting I have 2 of the 3 projects on the needles that have to be done by July. I have the baby blanket & the shawl for my sister the only one I need to cast on is the other shawl for my friend for her birthday.

I started a wrap for my sister but decided that I didn't like how the fabric was going so I went back to the drawing board & decided on a Multnomah instead. I think I am going to add more repeats on the Feather & Fan section. which for those who remember the horror of the last Feather & Fan project I did (nightmares I tell you lol) I think its ok width wise I just want it longer. I am still on the plain knitting section doing the increases I will take pics soon.

I haven't decided on the other shawl pattern because I need another size 3 needle because if I tried using the yarn on a size 4 it would be way to loose so since I only have 1 size 3 I really can't afford to drop 50 just to get a needle(cause that is what would happen at Knit Picks) I will try & hurry to get the Multnomah done fairly fast so I can get on to the next shawl.

I just got done adding on the last color for the baby blanket so hopefully I will be done here within the week. I have also been practicing my spinning on my spindle. I finished the stuff I was spinning & I have no clue what it was I got it awhile ago when I mentioned wanting to learn to spin. I have a make shift Niddy Noddy so I will soak it to set the twist sometime tonight there isn't very much its going to be single ply. So no clue what I will do with it. I do have some other fiber to spin but I think I am going to try & make a dent in this shawl before I get to that. I took the picture below during the spinning process.

FO & Choosing...

Saroyan is off the needles & blocking as we speak or shall I say as I type. It came out to a bit over 60in long. I really need to trade that table in for a rectangular one blocking anything long or odd shaped on there is ridiculous.

If you look closely you can see the black binder that is the binder I got from Bass Pro Shops to hold all my needles & other knitting tools( stitch markers, cables, crochet hooks & all the other doodads a knitter needs.

Back to the shawl I loved knitting this & it didn't take me as long I thought it would. I would have been done sooner if I had just worked on this alone & nothing else but come on who am I kidding I am not a monogamous knitter. But I did achieve one thing I wanted this off the needles but April 1st so I can cast on the two shawls I need for July. So seeing as I cast off Saroyan I can now cast on the two shawls(I even have the yarn wound) as soon I find 2 patterns. I have 2 days to pick 2 pattern I want to cast on come April 1st.

I decided to knit up to 180 stitches on Lorenzo's Bias blanket & then start decreasing. I am on the decrease section now after a couple of them I will add on the last color then it will be done. I have done some stash enhancing recently & will blog about as soon as the other skein arrives.

I have been practicing on my drop spindle & I am enjoying it alot. I need to buy more fiber to practice with. I know this probably sounds really dumb but I don't want to use the really pretty stuff I have until I am good at spinning but at the same time I am thinking well if I don't practice I will never be any good (yes I am a dork). So I need to give in & use the good stuff I guess.

I got 2 sets of finishing needles (a small & large set) some cable connectors,a set of 60' in cables

a Respect the Spindle DVD(which I love) & a pair of size 4 of the Zephyr needles.

This yarn is Shadow Lace Knitting in the color Nocturne Heather.

The green yarn is the one I picked to make my sisters shawl since she is allergic to wool & the blue is also for another friend. Both birthdays are in July so I need to pick out some patterns & get moving.

A Little Bit of Everything Update...

I am getting closer to being done with the increases on Lorenzo's Bias . I am at 171 sts & was thinking about going to 200 but to be honest I am getting a bit tired of the increasing so I will keep going for as long as I can or until I hit 200 & then I will start decreasing. I have one one color to add on & viola done. I am hoping by the first week of April to be done with it.

Next up is Saroyan which is still exactly where I left off on it last time on the beginning of the decrease section. I am not sure if I will follow said pattern or do some mods that someone had posted on their page to make the leaves match up better. But I am 10 leaves and a few rows away from being done I need to get a move on & finish it.

I have done a few more rows on the baby cardigan & casted on a new hat for the charity box. My plan is to have the two shawl patterns picked out & casted on by the end of April at the latest. Yes I am that slow I haven't even picked out patterns yet.

The Home Stretch.....

Saroyan is in the home stretch I finished the straight section about 10 min ago. I will set this aside for a few

days so I can get back to working on the baby blanket & the baby cardigan. I also need to cast on a baby hat for my charity box.

This thing is fairly long as it is each section has 10 leaves & I really have to say I love how this is working out. I am not a shawl wearer & I won't be keeping this one but I will for sure make this again. I am very proud of the way this is coming out.

ShinKitten on Raverly also made one with leaves on both sides & I love the way it looks so maybe after I knock out everything else on my list that is a must knit item I will cast that on.

My order arrived from Knit Picks yesterday so now that the yarn & needles are here I need to buckle down & pick out some shawl patterns. I will post the contents of the box in the next post. I need to go make my blog rounds before it gets to late.

Yarn Goodness...

This is my newest addition to my yarn stash she is so gorgeous & so soft. I purchased this from Highland Handmades which is owned by Heather of The Fiberista Files. The is 1100 yrd of Merino Wool & the colorway is Luna Moss. I have no idea what I am going to make with this yet but I think it would make a beautiful shawl/wrap.

This is the start of the baby Cardigan I am knitting the pattern is Baby Blueberry Cardigan this time I am making it out of Sensations (from JoAnn's) Soles & More in color 1138 which is Blues, Green, Browns & White. It is a fingering weight yarn . I don't have alot done but it's moving along.

I have added the next color on the baby blanket so a few more increases & decreases before I add the final color. Saroyan is sitting there waiting to be worked on which I fully intended to get back to. I need to hurry up & get something finished soon because my Knit Picks order should be here tomorrow & I need to get moving picking out two shawl patterns. Next week should be a good mail week I have a bag & some Fiber coming.

Toss On Another One....

I got a but of knitting done today. I am making progress on the Bias blanket I added the next color which is Brown or as the wrapper said Dark Taupe. I am going to knit with that and then start the Decreasing with the green color & then finish off with the last color. I thought about dividing the colors equally but that didn't happen.

I also added a new project to the pile I finally casted on the baby sweater that I was talking about in the previous post & so far so good. I haven't touched Saroyan in the past few days not exactly sure why either I am enjoying the pattern. I think it's because there is no due date for it. Unlike the baby blanket whose owner will be here in July. So I am pushing myself more to work on the blanket then Saroyan.

I finally found a little something to use for my steeking project its nothing big just a small sweater to fit a doll heck I may even try adding a zipper in. For those of you who have tried it any tips or websites you care to share ?

Let me start off by saying I don't have a really big yarn stash not by any means but I have a question. Is it bad when while cleaning you find 5 balls of yarn you totally forgot about lol ? I do believe I got them with my last Knit Picks order which was sometime last year I think late Nov early Dec. I found a gorgeous Grey skein of yarn that I think would make a beautiful shawl its 400 yards. So my question is how often do you find yarn you totally forgot you had ?

I spent a lot of time on Raverly today looking for a baby sweater for the Fingering Weight yarn I wound the other day. I started out looking for something new & different but ended up going back to the Blueberry one I made previously only this time I am going to make a couple of mods along the way which if I do I will let you know(cross your fingers).

I really don't need to be casting on anything else right now with the Bias Blanket & Saroyan still on the needles. But I will throw the baby sweater into rotation to break it up a little. I will try to have at least 1 or 2 of these done by the end of the month. Saroyan shouldn't take too much longer I have the second ball wound up & ready to go I think I am on leave 5 or 6 of the straight section.

Winding Them Up..

I got a fair bit of knitting done today. I worked on Saroyan & Bias Blanket today. I wound up the second ball of yarn for Saroyan & wound another ball of yarn to start a new project most likely a baby sweater. Mind you I have yarn for 2 shawls coming do I really need to be casting on something else no but will I um yea lol.

I am going to use some worsted weight yarn for my steeking project & oh sadly I still haven't picked out a project yet which I really need to get on the ball & get it done considering we are about to start the 3rd week of the month.

I can't believe its Daylight Saving Time already here. I am seriously not looking forward to losing an hour heck I am an insomniac as it is I need all the sleep I can get I need that hour lol. With that being said I am going to head to bed & try to get some sleep.

Spinning Ehhh..

So I tried this whole spinning thing & let me just say I have ALOT to learn that is for sure. Some parts of the yarn stayed spun & some didn't. But I am not giving up I have a little but more fiber to use for practice. It may be just me but I felt like the Teach Yourself Visual Spinning was missing a few steps in the book. I am going to pick up the Respect The Spindle dvd I think watching it on Tv & being able to go at my own pace will help alot.

Sadly there hasn't been any knitting since Tuesday. I decided to give my hands a rest before the marathon knitting starts in lieu of July birthdays & babies being born. I think I am going to place my Knit picks order this weekend so I can get it out of the way. I found a yarn to use for my sister's shawl. I am going to use organic cotton her the shawl. I am not sure why I didn't think of it sooner.

I still haven't gotten around to searching on Raverly for a project to practice Steeking on. For those of you who have done it. Do you have any tips for Steeking ? I don't know if I am going to able to get it all done in the month of March seeing as I have a couple of other things I need to get done. So this maybe a March/April kind of deal. I will have to check to see if we can do that.

Some Of Everything...

This is the baby hat I finished today. Its called Newborn Striped Pixie Hat by Polenka-Pixie. I made it from Vanna's Choice in the color Dusty Blue. It only took me 2 days to make.

I need to pick out another baby sweater to knit up or maybe I will just knit a tube but I picked Steeking for my technique to learn for the month of March I been jonesing to cut my knitting lol.

I am 3 leaves into the straight section on Saroyan granted I don't wear shawls but I am so knitting this pattern again. Its a wonderful pattern & is knitting up pretty fast even on size 4 needles.

The baby blanket hasn't been touched today but I will get back to it now that I have all the yarn for it. I just needed a break from the pattern its so simple it can get boring after awhile. But I do love how its coming out I just need to figure out the rest of the color combos.

I don't foresee much knitting tomorrow because my plan is to break out the spindle along with the Teach Yourself Spinning Visually book I got from the library & see if I can finally get down the hang of a drop spindle. Mk wants to learn also so we will see how this goes. My luck he will pick it up on the first try wish me luck lol.

Everything Is Growing....

I am finished with the first section of Saroyan. I ended up doing 10 leaves on that section I will probably do 10-14 for the straight section & then 10 for the last section. I still have a good amount of yarn left in this ball plus I have another ball to use. I am loving knitting this I really want to make another one or 2 in other colors.

I cast on a baby hat today for the charity. I am not to far into it about 2 rows past the ribbing. I am using Vanna's Choice yarn for that I will take a picture once I get more done.

The Bias baby blanket is moving along I have 100 stitches on the needle. I am not really sure how far I will go before I begin decreasing. I do have the other 2 colors I wanted for the blanket thanks to my friend Rabbit over at Blue Ridge Knitter she was nice enough to part ways with two huge balls of yarn each is about 700 & some odd yards so I will have more then enough for the blanket & other objects.

I just wanted to post something so I could keep myself on my blogging schedule of every 2 days. I have been switching back & forth between the baby blanket & Saroyan but there isn't much noticeable progress. I pulled out a couple of skeins of yarn to start some baby items for the charity box. I am fighting the urge to cast on more stuff. Hopefully by the time I post next I will have some pictures of some finished objects.

I finished up another hat for Mk's mom today. I will wait to see how these fit before I make anymore.

I made the hat on size 10 needles & omg they killed my hands. I will take size 4's over size 10's any day.

The pattern is the Super Basic Hat Pattern by Joeli Caparco. I used Lion Brand Jiffy in the color Caffee.

The baby blanket is coming along I added the next color today I still have brown & another blue color to add

The blue color is Bernat Berella 4 Solids & Ragg in Rich Perwinkle Blue

& the green is Red Heat in Frosty Green

I haven't worked on Saroyan in the past couple of days I plan on getting back to it tomorrow all while trying not to cast on something else let's see how long that lasts.

Time to Get Some Learning In...

The other day I put a couple of books on hold at the Library & picked them up today. I have to say I love my library you can check out up to 100 books at one time. Keeping them for about a month I do believe & you can request a book from another library & they will have it sent to your local library. But back to the 2 books I was writing about.

I got a sock blank for a birthday present a few years ago (thanks Figaro) but I never got around to dying it when I was looking through my knitting stuff the other day I came across it. I decided I needed to get it dyed up but I have been wanting to try my hand at it for awhile now. Isn't that how it goes once you start knitting next thing you know you want to spin & dye your own yarn lol.

Sadly when it comes to alot of things I am a serious Visual learner. I have watched a few videos on You Tube & read a couple of books some things have clicked but I still feel like I am missing something especially when it comes to Spinning. So hopefully with the book it will click I will be sure to let you know how it turns out. Mk has also taken an interest in spinning but not so much in knitting or yarn dying. Hey I will take what I can get.

Coming Along Nicely..

I am seriously running out of interesting titles for these post I tell you. I have been a bit of knitting over the past few days. I finished the Starving Artist hat. It hasn't been soaked & blocked but I wanted to get a picture of it because once its dried it will be off to Mk's mom.

Starving Artist by Laura Linneman

I really enjoyed knitting this hat. Its a easy to remember pattern & with big needles & bulky yarn you will be done in now time. I would have been done sooner but I kept playing round Robin with various other projects.

I still have 2 other items on the needles at the moment one is

Saroyan by Liz Abinante

I am loving this pattern I am not a shawl person but I think I may have to end up making one of these for myself(I have a recipient in mind for this one already)

The other project on the needles I am calling Lorenzo's blanket. Its a baby blanket for my friend Laurie's' baby Lorenzo. I am using the Bias Blanket pattern. I am still on the first color in the blanket I will add I think maybe 2 or 3 more colors before it's all said and done. If you are looking for an easy blanket this is a great one.

I am going to cast on another baby hat for the charity box sadly I only got one hat done this month so I want to make up for it in March. I also need to order the yarn & needles for the other 2 shawls & decide what shawls I want to make & get on the ball.

So that is all the enhancing I have done in the past week. On the knitting front Saroyan is coming along nicely. Starving Artist hasn't moved at all but I really need to get back to it tonight. Also I frogged the Entrelac baby blanket. I have picked a easier pattern because lets me honest I have 2 other projects (shawls) that I want to have done by the end of July at the latest. Moving Very Slowly....

There has been very little knitting around here since my last post. There has been none on the Starving Artist hat its still exactly where you saw it in the picture in the previous post. I do need to get it finished so I can get it out to Mk's mom.

I have made a little headway on the Entrelac Baby Blanket. I finished the set up triangles & am now on the first row of squares. I may end up ripping it out & doing something else but for the time being I am sticking with the Entrelac idea.

As if 2 items aren't enough on the needles tomorrow I will be casting on Saroyan by Liz Abinante. Its a KAL with me & my 2 friends Debbie & Christina. It will probably take me awhile to get it done seeing how I will be knitting it on Fingering Weight yarn on size 4 needles.

I have no idea how far into I will get before I get the yarn for the other 2 shawls I have to make. I need to find a yarn that won't be too hot & isn't wool for my sister's shawl she is allergic to wool & lives in Texas. My plan is to get the yarn & needles ordered next month so I can get moving on them.

Always Check Your Needles......

At the moment one of the things I am knitting is the Starving Artist which I'm sure all of you have heard of by now. I think the pattern is running rampant over the Raverly. But I have to say I am a huge dork while I was switching out needles for another project I discovered 2 pairs of needles had ended up switched & who 2 pairs you ask well sizes 10 & 10.5. The hat is suppose to be knit on size 10.5 but no mines ended up on size ten. The lesson learned here is no matter what always use your needle guide to check the size of the needle even if its in the slot marked 10.5. I am way to far into the hat to rip it out now so I will make another one with the 10.5 needles once this is done.

I had to put the Double Knitting on the back burner for now & reclaim the needles for a project. I am finally starting the baby blanket I have been talking about. I am obviously a glutton for punishment I have decided to do a Entrelac baby blanket. I am not sure if its going to be big enough to use as a blanket as opposed to a car seat blanket. I am sure by the next time I post I will have something else on the needles even though I should be focusing on the baby blanket which is due by July.

I also need to cast on & knit 2 shawl by July one for a friend & one for my sister now I have no idea how the heck I am going to do that considering we are in the month of Feb which by the way is just about over (how the hell did that happen ??). I have certain colors picked out for said shawls but one (for my sister) can't be wool due to the fact she is allergic to it so I am on the hunt for some nice yarn that isn't wool if you have any ideas please, please let me know if its washable even better.

Well I have 2 finished objects to show you tonight one you have seen before but I finally added on the last finishing tough & that is the baby cardigan I made. I finally found buttons that I liked I have a few more in various other colors in case I make something else & need buttons. I have a start to my button box. The pattern for the cardigan again is Baby Blueberry Cardigan.

The next finished object is my Red Hurricane. This hat is for Mk's mom to use while she is under going Chemo & Radiation. I love how soft Malabrigo is I am not a hat person but I may have to knit myself a hat from Malabrigo. As I said before I love this hat pattern its quick, easy & give you a wonderful end result. The hat pattern again is the Hurricane hat.

The next thing that I will cast on tomorrow is a hat by Laura aka LaLa of The KnitGirllls Podcast. Its a hat called Starving Artist. I am also making this hat for Mk's mom the only Bulky yarn I have is LB Jiffy so I am going to use that & see how it comes out.

Double Knitting & Hurricanes.....

Those are the 2 things that I am working on right now. The Double Knitting is interesting to say the least some people say cast on with both colors & some say cast on with each color separately well for the time being I did it with both colors cast on at the same time. I will say knitting with 2 yarns at the same time is a bit crazy flipping the yarn back & forth from knit to purl I think if I only had to move one yarn it would be alot easier I am going to try the other way (yarns separately as soon as I finish this one).

There is no design or anything on here just plan green on one side & brown on the other. I will pick out a pattern with one after I get the hang of this. I don't need anything else to confuse me lol.

I am also making my second Hurricane hat this one is made out of Malabrigo. This one is for Mk's mom she recently started Chemo & Radiation. I want her to have a hat that is nice & soft which is exactly what Malabrigo is. I could knit with this yarn forever I really need to get some more of this in my stash.

I need to get back to my shawl that I haven't touched in weeks. I never did get around to making that

A Place For Eveything...FINALLY !!!!!

I hope everyone had a Happy Valentines Day it was a nice quiet day around here Mk got me some pretty tulips & some yummy cheesecake. We tend to do Valentines low key because our anniversary is in March. It rained here like crazy later in the day nothing like the rain beating against the window to make good relaxing weather.

I got a little bit of knitting done today but I finally put the knitting down & decided it was time time to get my knitting things organized. So I pulled out the 2 binders I had my patterns in & separated them into sections based on Shawl, scarves, hats & whatnot. I have to say for someone who isn't a big shawl fan I have pretty much one whole binder full of shawl patterns.

I got all my tools into my tackle binder I got from Bass Pro Shops. I can finally enter everything into Ravelry which I couldn't do before because all my stuff seemed to be all over the place. Tomorrow I plan on making a list of all the things I need to knit this year & have their deadlines I need to see what I can get done without driving myself crazy or putting bad juju into the project.

I finally started learning Double Knitting but I will save that for the next post time to go catch up on some blogs & get some knitting done.

New Addition

I love getting packages in the mail it always brightens the day & it was well needed today. I didn't have a bad day but man the weather was out of control it was raining hard as crap & windy enough outside to make the lights flicker.

I ended up catching a Destash a fellow blogger had on their blog & well let's just say I couldn't help myself. I have another package coming sometime next week lol. What can I say you never know what great deals you will find at a Destash.

This time around I picked up 4 skeins of Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine in color # 1281 which is Firewood Mix.

I have 1732 yrds which I am thinking of using to make a Hemlock Ring Blanket.

I have been wanting to make one for the longest time.

Green Hurricane...

I am sure someone read the headline & is sitting there yelling at me its Green Hornet not Green Hurricane lol. Before the emails come rolling in calling me a dork. The Green Hurricane I was referring to is the Hurricane hat I just finished today.

I really enjoyed knitting this hat it was a fairly quick knit. I am going to make one for Mk's mom in red but this time around I am going to go up a needle size & go further then 5in before I start the decreases. Mk said he wants one in black. Really what is it with men & only knitted things in black ??

Mk also picked me up some Red Heart yarn in green & brown so I can get started on this Double Knitting cross your fingers for me that I don't lose my mind trying to figure this out.

This weekend I plan on dedicating to getting all my knitting tools & patterns in their binders my notions bag is overfull & getting harder to close mind you I purchased a tackle binder from Bass Pro Shops right after Christmas & it's still sitting in the box waiting to be used (hey I never said I was fast lol)

I didn't realize it has been 6 days since the last time I blogged. Well I am feeling ok at the moment I really hope this whole shakes & fever thing is finally over for good because even though it comes & goes I am utterly exhausted for the next few days.

Sadly while I was down & out not much knitting got done. I am still on the ribbing section of the hat I just started the other day. I haven't even began doing any work on learning my technique for February which is Double Knitting. I really want to get started on that soon. I am so behind on knitting & gathering things I need for other projects that it isn't even funny.

I am going to keep this short so I can go catch up on all the blog reading I have missed. Hope all is well with everyone. Happy Knitting.

Hanging Around

Sadly I am still dealing with the fever but on top of that I now have some sinus junk going on fun times around here I say. Well the other day I finished up the pair of baby socks I was knitting on. Today I cast on a hat today for Mk's mom I am making this out of Vanna's Choice in the colorway Olive. This is the same color I made my Clapotis out of.

I also picked a new technique to learn for the month of February. This month I picked Double Knitting I don't think this is going to be as easy as Entrelac was last month but then again this isn't about how easy it is its about learning a new technique so wish me luck on this one if you have any tips or tricks plz feel free to share it is greatly appreciated.

Due to the fact that I am feeling like death warmed over, with a hint of being hit by a Semi truck this blog post will be short & probably boring. I have been fighting a fever for the past few days ranging from 99.0 -101.4.

My body is killing me which is a new thing which I am not liking at all. On the knitting front I finished one baby sock & I am working on the foot of the other sock. I had to throw in the towel cause my arms started hurting too much.

I am going to go make my blog rounds while I wait for these aspirin to kick in.

Is the question on my mind I don't really have much on the needles yet just the baby sock I cast on yesterday & the lace project that is slowly moving along. Remind me to never cast on 100 & some odd stitches on size 4 needles ever again please lol.

I haven't made it out to the craft stores to look for buttons yet I may just look around online to see what I can find for those of you who make garments where do you get your buttons from ? I need to get on the ball & get the yarn for the 3 projects I need to get started soon. I need to dig through my stash & find some Malabrigo that I got from a friend I am going to use it to make a hat for Mk's mom when she starts chemo. Which I am not sure if I shared this on the blog but Mk's mom came up here & saw her Dr. on Monday.

They talked it over & they want her to undergo chemo & radiation which she is really not liking in the least bit but its the best thing for her I guess even after the surgery. She is worried about losing her hair so I figure considering it's still Winter out & cold has hell I would make her a hat out of some nice soft mmmmmm only thing I need to do is pick out a pattern & get it cast on.

Blocking & Awaiting...

Lilac Baby is of the needles(insert snoopy happy dance here). I ended up ripping out the first button band I did & reknit it this time adding in the second button hole. I wove in the ends & left some which I will cut once it is finished drying. I am used to picking up & knitting stitches but for some reason this knitted on band gave me fits this time. I think next time I will add some selvage stitches at the ends to make picking up & knitting easier.

I still need to pick out buttons & once I add them one I will take a picture of the completed sweater & put it in the charity box to be mailed out later this year. So now that the cardigan is done(99.9%) I am going to finally cast on the baby socks I have been thinking about for the past few days. I got consumed with the cardigan & getting it done not really sure why considering there wasn't a deadline attached.

I really need to get back to working on the shawl I am knitting(it was a scarf pattern I just made bigger for a shawl). This poor thing hasn't gotten any bigger in weeks. I need to get around to picking out yarn for 3 big projects I have to do this year( baby blanket, shawl, & hemlock ring blanket) so I need to get my butt in gear & figure out what yarn I want & how much I am going to need.

Sweater Goods

SUPER BOWL BOUND BABY !!!!!!!!

The baby cardigan is coming along nicely I finished one of the button bands today & I messed up while talking to company we had over & only did one button hole instead of 2. By the time I realized that I had bound off that side so instead of using 2 buttons I will only use 1. am not really ooh & ahh over this sweater not due to the pattern just to my knitting it. Its my first sweater so its not going to be perfect. but the next time I make it I a going to go with the button idea I thought of before.

I finally picked out the baby socks I am going to knit to go with the baby hat I made earlier. I want to cast these socks on & have them done before the end of the month. I want to pick out another baby sweater to knit also. I need to start picking up yarn for the baby blanket I am leaning towards an Entrelac blanket in a variety of blues or greens (the baby is a boy)

Up Next Sleeves & Bands..

I finished the body of the baby cardigan today so up next is the sleeves & button band. I am thinking instead if doing the buttons with the holes I may end up adding buttons but making some loops out of i-cord to go around the button or heck I may even leave it button less once I do the sleeves I will finally decide.

Speaking of sleeves I don't know if I will make them long or half the length. Do they make short sleeved baby cardigans ??? I haven't gotten any other knitting done hopefully tomorrow I will finally cast on the baby socks to match the hat & get these sleeves started.

Thanks to being on Plurk I was lucky enough to catch a fellow knitter/pluker talking about them destashing yarn & I found my way over to her page & found some great yarns I picked up 2 & may end up going back for more at some point. Excuse the horrible pictures as usual.

A Hodge Podge.....

I finished the baby hat I was working on today I will probably cast on another one sometime this week. I am going to cast on a pair of baby socks to match the hat & add it to the charity pile. I love the little flecks of silver in this yarn its so cute.

In case you are wondering that is my mouse pad behind the hat & its a dog rocking out while wearing headphones lol its one of the things Mk got me for Christmas. I will have to take a picture of it next time.

I am still working on the baby cardigan. I just out the sleeve stitches on waste yarn so now on to the body which is 11.5".or 1.5" before desired length from cast on edge. So from now on its pretty easy knitting until it comes time to work on the sleeves which I am confident I can do. I am a bit worried about picking up the stitches for the ribbed button band. I think this will be my charity go to sweater I want to make a couple more in different colors. I have about 4 or 5 more colors of Caron One Pound Yarn.

I really need to get back to my lace project it has been sitting there for weeks now untouched & I refuse to rip it out because I really like the pattern but as we all know with lace it takes a little for it to grow I think I will work on it some this week after I cast on the baby socks I will rotate since the socks really shouldn't take that long to make & the sweater is just plain stockinette knitting. I also put the call out to everyone I know that if they come across any buttons in the thrift shops to pick them up for me lol I figure with all of us looking I should get a collection going fairly quickly. I think I will browse Ebay & Etsy also.

Which is exactly the way I am knitting my first ever sweater well wait let me rephrase that my first ever baby sweater. I decided it was time to learn how to make a sweater, but sadly I will probably never make one for myself as I am not a big sweater person but alas never say never right. I am using a pattern called Baby Blueberry Cardigan by Elizabeth F. Smith. It will probably end up in the charity box once I'm done since no one I know has a baby girl or is expecting anytime soon.

This is my first project where I get to go buy buttons(insert Snoopy dance here).

I have been talking about starting a button collection & hmm maybe now is the time. I don't know if its better or easier to knit a sweater top down or bottom up honestly I just picked something that looked easy for my first time sweater. Also I just realized its called a Cardigan in the name but I keep calling it a sweater. Is their a difference between a sweater & a cardigan ?

I am calling this cardigan/sweater Lilac Blueberry because the yarn I am using is Lilac. I am really enjoying knitting on it so much that I have been neglecting the baby hat & the lace project the past few days.

Can I just say how much I LOVE my blocking boards.

Hopefully by the next post I will be alot further along & I will also have made some progress on the other 2 projects (keep your fingers crossed).

I finished my practice Entrelac square today & let me just say omg this is the coolest thing ever lol.

I am going to gather up all my Caron One Pound yarns & see what colors I have because I really want to make an Entrelac baby blanket. I also finished the baby hat I was working on I found some pretty yarn in my stash its white with silver mixed in its Lion Brand Baby Soft in While Pompadour. I am going to make a baby set with hat, sock & mitten which I will start tomorrow.

I haven't touched the lace project lately which I really need to get back to. I keep browsing Ravelry looking for more things to cast on. There hasn't been any organizing around here in the past couple of days. I need to get back to it before I lose all my momentum.

Off To A Good Start

As part of my big organization plan this year I spent some time today getting alot of things in order. I now have all my magazines on Ravelry well I have a couple more that aren't in the database so I can't add them. I have 57 magazines listed & funny enough 3 of those magazines I have 2 of see this is what I get for not being more organized.

Sadly I only have 11 books I really need to invest in more books. I really don't know why I keep buying magazines I don't think I have used any of them to knit from. I may at some point but so far not a one. I have my eye on a certain set of books for Christmas 2 years ago I received The Harmony Guides: Knit & Purl by Erika Knight. I really enjoyed this book I later found out that there are more books such as Cables & Arans, Knit Edgings & Trims, Lace & Eyelets plus Colorwork Stitches.

I also ran across some books just like those on Knit Picks but they are from Vogue they are the Vogue Stitchionary books. If anyone who is reading this has any either of those sets or even just books from them let me know what you think about them I would greatly appreciate it.

Now back to the organization part I have all my patterns that I have printed out so far in 2 binders I need to go through I separate them into sections such as shawls, scarves & whatnot. Now for a person who doesn't wear shawls that is what I have most of in these binds & in my cart on Ravelry.

My tackle binder came in the mail a few days ago. I picked up a tackle binder from Bass Pro Shops. Instead of me trying to explain it you can see what it looks like right here. I also got some replacement bags too. I am going to get all my needles & stuff situated so I know where everything is. between the binder & the small zippered Knit Picks bag I got from my swap partner I think everything will be nice & neat. Also last but not least I am a proud owner of a snapware container to keep my yarn neat while knitting Mk picked it up for me when he went to Jo-Anns for a magazine for me which they didn't have anyways lol.

January is For Entrelac...

I am not sure if I mentioned this or not but I joined a group on Ravelry called New Techniques 2011 KAL. The jist of the group is every month you pick a new technique you want to learn or get better at & for me for January I picked Entrelac. For the longest time I have wanted to learn it there are some gorgeous items on Ravelry.

I tried learning before but for the life of me I couldn't get it to fit together in my head I am sure me being a visual learner wasn't helping alot at that time but this time with help from the links that were posted in the group things actually clicked this time. The piece I am making as a practice square will probably end up being a dishcloth. Ladies & Gents we have Entrelac (insert snoopy happy dance here) lol.

In other news I ended up ripping out the BSJ after it had been sitting for awhile I somehow ended up ass backwards & in all honesty I wasn't really liking how it was coming out with the yarn I was using. I was using Caron One Pound which I have used plenty of times before but this time it just felt really stiff when I was working with it. But I haven't given up on it & will cast on again with a different yarn next time.

I am also still working on the lace project that is a scarf but I'm making into a shawl/wrap. I haven't really touched it since I began learning Entrelac but I need to get back at it because this stuff on size 4 needles isn't fast knitting lol. I am honoring another one of my resolutions I casted on a baby hat for the charity today & since that shouldn't take long I maybe able to actually knock out 2 of them in a month.

The other day I got a belated Christmas gift from Mk & here Bob(I have dubbed him Bob) is in all his glory

I love the WiFi part I can print from anywhere now woo hoo. I also love the double sided printing lol.

I have been printing off all my knitting patterns a little at a time & getting them all together. I spent some time today cleaning out my Favorites & Queue on Ravelry my Favs are down from 27 pages to 12 & I have 2 or 3 pages for my Que which I plan on going through them again just to see if I change my mind about anything.

I hope everyone had a nice Holiday mines was great but glad its over I am ready for New Years to come a ringing in. New Years is my favorite holiday right after my birthday(which I know isn't a holiday) but I celebrate it all that week lol. I have to say this year I was pretty spoiled this year thanks to Mk there were a few things I was able to knock off my Knit Picks wish list

1.Blocking Mats

2. Chart Keeper

3 Replacement Magnets for Chart Keeper

3.Blocking Pins

4. An Emergency Fix Key Chain(now I have 2 I got one from my swap partner)

5. Needle sizes 0-2 in the fixed circular Options

Mk got me a giftcard to Bass Pro Shops so I could get one of these. I also picked up a few packs of replacement pages. I plan on using that tackle box to sort my needles & stuff. I heard about the idea on The Knit Wits Podcast . If you haven't already you should head on over & give this Podcast a listen it is freaking hilarious the conversations between is wonderful.

I was finally able to pick up my knitting & actually work on it. I haven't picked up the BSJ instead I worked on my other project aka Mulberry Lace I don't know if I said this before but ML is going to be a long term project I have 100 & some odd stitches on size 3 needles so yea that won't be done anytime soon. So what was under your tree ??
